Protecting Lives - I Love Working in Insurance! #lifeinsurance #insuranceagent #leavealegacy

Grandma & Brianna, © 2025 thismomneedswine.com

I've
been working in the insurance industry for over four years, and I love it. I made the change during Covid, when I was laid off from my dispatching job in the pest control field, since the world was under lockdown. I was hired by one of the top known Insurance companies in Canada and earned my RIBO license. It started as a remote position, but I was forced back into the office once things started to go back to normal.

Originally, I lived in Toronto, Ontario and that would have been doable, but I moved and bought a house in Barrie, Ontario. I sold my condo and bought a house up north with my mother, since prices were too high in the GTA. Mom and my grandmother were renting a two-bedroom apartment for about $1200 a month, and my mortgage was about the same monthly, so it made sense to just be under one roof. Mom would help me with my daughter, and I'd help her with caring for grandma with her worsening Alzheimer's.

There was no way I was going to spend over 12 hours commuting by train and missing out on so many milestones with my child. Switching companies at that time for a remote job was the best decision I’ve made, and I love where I work.

What do I do for work? Well, I’m a personal lines insurance advisor and I'm basically the person who processes the home and auto policies. If you’re needing a new home or auto policy, I can hook you up with the best coverage at a reasonable price. With the way that the economy is going, along with climate change, people are shopping around for the best deals. The industry is in high demand, as you never know what tomorrow holds. With that said, one of the most important things is to make sure that I’m protected. Not just protecting my home and auto, but also protecting my life

How to Start a Home Day Care in Ontario, Canada

I was recently laid off from my job, in which I was quite upset. With me being in the third trimester of my pregnancy, it pretty much screwed me for looking for another job... plus I didn't get enough hours in to qualify for maternity leave. What I had in the back of my head prior to this, was to become a stay at home mother and start a small home daycare... now with the circumstances, it's my best option.

The home daycare is an option that's well suited for a mother who wants to be at home with her kids while they are young, but still earn money to support the family. In Ontario, Canada, a home daycare is allowed to have five children younger than 10, plus their own children. These homes don't have to be registered or licensed. However, registering with an agency can help aid in finding clients.

Happy Tuesday/Monday!

It's a Tuesday here, but it's actually my Monday. Yes, I've been starting work on Tuesdays the last little while, but by the end of the month I will end up with Thursday and Friday's off.

I'm currently working, although I've completed what I needed to do for the moment... so Facebook time! I came across a post that made me laugh, so I had to post it here. It's the picture to the right of where I'm writing... perfect for a Tuesday/Monday kind of day. I'm not one to normally be late for work... actually I'm always early. But if I was someone who's late on a regular basis... I wonder what my boss would say to a text message like the one in the picture?!!!

I have no excuses when it comes to being late for work... I work from home. Yes, I can work in my pj's if I really wanted... but I actually bathed and got dressed today! It's day 1 of the week, so I try and look like I'm working. By Saturday though, I will most likely be sitting at the computer in my pj's.

A Frustrating Day

I've come to the conclusion that I'm surrounded by morons. It's one of those days where clueless people keep making me wonder where their brain is. It could be that I'm over tired, or it could be that I'm working a 12 hour shift today. Whatever it is... I'm frustrated. This place is slowly gonna drive me crazy!

How Have I Been?

I've been working at my new job for over two months now... been working up to 50 hours a week at times, and received two raises already. It's nice for a change to actually feel appreciated, as it's been a long time since I've experienced that from previous jobs. Last week I worked seven days, and worked all through the Easter holiday weekend. Am I enjoying my new job? Yes... and the people are awesome!

How have I been? I've been great... I feel amazing compared to before. I feel better then I've felt in years, and I actually feel like I finally have my life in order. My bills are paid, my anxiety and depression are under control... almost non existent. I'm finally putting myself first for a change, and it feels great. I feel empowered, independent, and looking forward to the future... conquering my goals... finally smiling. :)

How Have I Been?

The last little while I've been noticing a huge improvement when it comes to my life. I've been working now for about six weeks, have managed to get myself out of debt, and I'm officially divorced. Regarding my new job... I love it! It's nice being part of a work family... I actually feel normal once again. What I mean by that? Well, when I was off work I felt like I was missing out on everything. I wasn't interacting with people on a daily basis, which was affecting my anxiety and depression.

It's official... I'm divorced. I didn't say much regarding it before, as I was waiting on a court date. I had to go to court regarding a restraining order/peace bond. The first time I went, I wasn't able to provide the needed evidence at that time... I had text messages from my cellphone that were saved on my old computer, but my computer crapped out. By the second court date I managed to get the file and print it out, and the judge granted the peace bond in my favor. There were many sleepless nights that I stayed up stressing over the whole situation, and I'm still sad that it didn't work out. We were just too different in many ways, and it ended in a bad way... no possibility of even friendship. It's heartbreaking at times, because we did have good times.

For the first time in a long time, I've actually put myself before a man. I didn't really know who I was, without having someone attached to me at the hip. I felt like I was always trying to take care of my spouse and his family, and forgot about my needs.

What else is new in my life? I ran into my first love! Yes, my very first boyfriend I ever had. Small world... haven't seen him since I was about 18. We picked up like not a day had passed, just like when I got reunited with my BFF.

Life is good at the moment, and I'm trying to stay positive. I'm taking it day by day, and it seems to get easier as time passes.

Back to Work Tomorrow

I'm heading back to work tomorrow and I'm excited but terrified at the same time. Wish me luck! I will update you all tomorrow on how it went.

Update!

I haven't been posting as often as before, as I'm proud to tell you all that I'm back to work. This is the third week and I'm so proud of myself. I'm happy to say that I've only had one panic attack during this whole time, and it only lasted about five minutes. That's huge progress from what I've been dealing with the last two years.

This week I've been in allergy hell, and I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same? Yesterday my allergies were so bad that I had hives all over my body. My eyes were puffy and itchy, my tongue and throat were itchy, runny and itchy nose... allergy hell. I finally took a Reactine pill and passed out for an hour since it made me drowsy... even though it states it's non drowsy! I guess I shouldn't really complain about the drowsy part... I am on quite a few med's that could have contributed to that!

TGIF... One Week Done!

It's been a week since I've been back in the working world, and I'm so glad to be back. Today was day five, and I'm also glad that I have the weekend off! I'm not used to working every day, and I'm quite tired. It also doesn't help that I have a killer headache... probably due to the weather.

Next week I'm planning to go on the phones... I work in a call center for a Canadian bank if you didn't already know. I missed working... felt like I was missing out on all the gossip! Nothin too crazy went down, but it's sure a shit load of catching up I have to do. I feel good though... feel like I've accomplished a lot. I'm walking to work faster then I've ever in the past, and I have so much energy. Next I'm going to try taking the stairs at work. Wish me luck with that one. Hopefully I won't die half way up to my floor!

Back to Work

Today was my first day back to work, and I have to say I'm glad to be back. Four hours seemed to fly by so quick, it seems that once I actually get into something, it's almost time to go home! It was nice seeing some old friends that I haven't seen for over a year. I got some nice welcome backs from a few, even one of the big shot managers asked how I'm feeling.

I got carried away trying to get caught up on TV shows that I have recorded on my PVR, that I don't have much time to write tonight... gotta head to bed. I will announce the winner of the PJ Stamp tomorrow, as well as post a new review and giveaway... so keep an eye out for it. So have a good night my blogging friends and sweet dreams.

I'm Excited!

I haven't written much all week, as I've been busy trying to get ready for Monday. What's so special about this coming Monday you may ask? Well, I'm back to work! Yep... I'm taking the plunge back into society, and I'm excited. The first week I will be working Monday to Friday 10am-2pm. Second week I'll be Monday to Friday 10am-4pm, and then after the holiday May 24 weekend I will be working Tuesday to Friday 10am-6pm. So three weeks of trying to get caught up and retraining in the banking field, and then back to regular full time pay without the insurance disability.

Monday, 19 April 2010

I just found out that I'm only covered 70% for short term disability now, since I've been on it for about 15 weeks. Shit... that will just basically pay for my rent... no living expenses. I have to try to get back to work... try to keep my mind clear. Pray that I can do it. Pray that I feel better by next week. My boss is off this week on holidays... so it's time to meditate and relax. I have been sleeping a lot the last week since I've been back on the Seroquel. The side effects have worn off a bit... but I've been having some crazy nightmares.

I just stepped on the scale by my washroom... wow... 292Lbs. Since I've been off work I've really let myself go to shit. It's nice out and I have to try to drop some weight so I will feel more comfortable this summer. I guess right now I can't really afford to be eating out... so that solves that problem.

Day 1... 292Lbs...

Friday, 12 February 2010

So I ended up getting a doctor's note from my family doctor once I went into the office. He said that he supports me 100% and for me not to worry. I felt much better to hear that from him... but it's far from being fixed. So on that day I quickly faxed the note along with an explination. Well, today I ended up getting a letter from HR asking me to provide further details in a letter written by me, as well as any documentation supporting why I was on short term disability.

fishy doctor Pictures, Images and Photos

It took me like two hours to complete everything, and get it organized to put in the mail. So that means I will probably be out of a good pay cheque for like another few weeks... grrrrr!

So tonight I had a panic attack when Vivek was over. I was doing so good the last few days... it just came out of the blue. I don't know if it was because of the letter I was writing, or if it was because my asshole ex called and said he wants to claim our divorce on his tax return (which by the way he didn't pay for the divorce, I did!). He frustrates the hell out of me... makes me want to pull my hair out and scream as loud as I can. I truely feel crazy sometimes... wish I didn't have to have these attacks. I wish I didn't have to feel like a zombie trying to get used to the new meds that I'm on. I'm trying not to lose my mind... I want to be back to normal... I want to have a life again, and right now that is almost impossible.
