Protecting Lives - I Love Working in Insurance! #lifeinsurance #insuranceagent #leavealegacy

I've
been working in the insurance industry for over four years, and I love it. I made the change during Covid, when I was laid off from my dispatching job in the pest control field, since the world was under lockdown. I was hired by one of the top known Insurance companies in Canada and earned my RIBO license. It started as a remote position, but I was forced back into the office once things started to go back to normal.

Originally, I lived in Toronto, Ontario and that would have been doable, but I moved and bought a house in Barrie, Ontario. I sold my condo and bought a house up north with my mother, since prices were too high in the GTA. Mom and my grandmother were renting a two-bedroom apartment for about $1200 a month, and my mortgage was about the same monthly, so it made sense to just be under one roof. Mom would help me with my daughter, and I'd help her with caring for grandma with her worsening Alzheimer's.

There was no way I was going to spend over 12 hours commuting by train and missing out on so many milestones with my child. Switching companies at that time for a remote job was the best decision I’ve made, and I love where I work.

What do I do for work? Well, I’m a personal lines insurance advisor and I'm basically the person who processes the home and auto policies. If you’re needing a new home or auto policy, I can hook you up with the best coverage at a reasonable price. With the way that the economy is going, along with climate change, people are shopping around for the best deals. The industry is in high demand, as you never know what tomorrow holds. With that said, one of the most important things is to make sure that I’m protected. Not just protecting my home and auto, but also protecting my life

Why do I need Life Insurance?

Well, life insurance has to be one of the most selfless gifts that you can leave someone if you pass away. It doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive like you may think.

Here are some reasons why life insurance is important and a must.

It’s for your family... not for you.

Life insurance isn’t for you; it’s for the wellbeing of your family upon your death.

Short Term - Just think, would your spouse, or children be able to pay the rent or mortgage on their own? Afford the bills? How about paying for the funeral and burial, which on average costs $10,000?

At a time of high emotional stress, the financial burden can add up quickly... especially if you’re forced to move or start a new job.

Life insurance can help keep your family from having major debt issues, especially during a time when you’re the least equipped to do so. You don’t want to leave your family feeling the impact of your loss well into the future.

Long-Term - Sometimes family members may have to make major life changes which create additional expenses. An example would be a stay-at-home mother returning to the workforce and needing to pay for daycare. Life insurance can help cover those new expenses.

Or maybe your family includes someone who is disabled and needs lifelong assistance and financial support. Life insurance can help with the continuity of their care.

Life insurance may not be as expensive as you think!

The cost of life insurance depends on many factors like age, sex and overall health as well as the type of life insurance that you’re seeking. For a healthy person under the age of 40, a $500,000 20-term policy can be less than a daily cup of coffee for a man... $32 per month, and $25 for a woman. If you’re under 30, it may cost less.

As you age, buying life insurance becomes more expensive since your health may decline, and the odd of dying sooner increases. It’s best to lock in your rate now while you’re young and healthy, to save from paying a higher premium later.

Don’t wait until you need life insurance... you may not qualify.

Did you know that more adults between the ages of 25 – 44 die each year from serious illness than by accidental injury? By the time someone is diagnosed with a serious illness, it’s too late to get life insurance coverage.  With life insurance you can ensure that your family can stay in their home, without cleaning out their savings.

Since I work in insurance, I definitely have life insurance and would recommend it. Since I have some health issues, mine is a bit more expensive but well worth the piece of mind knowing that my family will be protected. Feel free to send me an email if you'd like a personal lines quote in Canada!
