Taking it Easy While Using Fairhaven Health Nursing Products - Nursing Pack Giveaway!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

For those of you who read and follow my blog, you would already know that I recently had a baby. You would also know that I've had issues regarding infertility, as a result from PCOS... I've blogged about it many times in the past. My little Brianna is a little over 3 months old, and she's my miracle baby.

While I was pregnant I contacted the company Fairhaven Health, to inquire about their products. I was fortunate to be able to test some of them, mainly the ones for post-pregnancy... for nursing. I actually intended on writing this blog post months ago, however, having a newborn was a lot more work than I previously expected. It also doesn't help that she was colicky, which took up a lot more time trying to calm her down on a daily basis. I have figured out that cutting out dairy (milk) has made a huge improvement, and I've finally been able to start catching up on my blogging.

My Little Angel is Here!

Where have I been hiding the past week? Well, a little over a week ago I had a follow up appointment with my gyno, and she was concerned since my blood pressure was sky high, and I had itchy hands and feet. So she sent me over to the birthing department in the hospital that she works out of, so I could have some tests done. After being hooked up to monitors for a few hours, they asked me to come back first thing Sunday morning... that's when the Dr was in next, so she could re-evaluate everything.

Went back Sunday morning, was hooked up to multiple machines yet again, and all my stats were still out of wack. Surprise... they decided that I needed to be induced! I was admitted, given my birthing room, and the fun began.

At exactly 3:30am on July 13th, my little angel was born! I was in the hospital for almost a week due to her losing 12% since birth, but once we got the hang of breastfeeding she's up to a good weight... my blood pressure was all crazy, so I'm on a fair amount of meds to help control it.

Well, time for a quick nap since my angel is finally asleep... Will update you all soon.

Feeling Better With My SantaMedical Non-Contact Thermometer #NoncontactInfraredThermometer!

As of today I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant, and I guess I'm feeling okay compared to how I could be feeling. I have however, felt a little off the last few days, which brought me a trip into the hospital yesterday evening. I had my weekly routine appointment with my gyno for a follow up, and she asked me how I was feeling. I had noticed the last few days that I've been extremely tired... more than usual, and my hands and feet seemed to be itchy as hell in the nighttime. So, that meant many hours of testing and lots of fun at the hospital down the street. I have to go for a follow up on this coming Sunday, which in the end might end up with me being labor induced.

While I was home the last couple days and I was feeling a bit off, I've been monitoring a number of things... my blood pressure, fetal movement with an app on my phone, and double checking my temperature. Thanks to a product that was sent to me from the company SantaMedical, I got to test out their Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer!

When Pregnancy Brings On Panic Attacks

Anxiety and stress during pregnancy are more common than you might think. Even women who have never had a panic attack before may experience one while they're expecting.

Though many women might think of pregnancy as a magical time, it is not always nine months of bliss. Stress and anxiety may run high. And panic attacks during pregnancy are actually quite common. “Up to 10 percent of pregnant women struggle with panic attacks,” says Gina Hassan, PhD, a licensed psychologist in Berkeley, Calif., who specializes in perinatal health.

The symptoms of a panic attack during pregnancy are no different from a panic attack at any other time:

I'm In Heaven Because of My SantaMedical Kneading Massager #KneadingMassagerCushion

With me being in my third trimester at 35 weeks pregnant, being able to review a massage product couldn't have come at a better time. I was doing pretty good up until a few weeks back, but now I've had to slow down. The pregnancy aches and pains have taken over my body, which leaves me exhausted almost instantly after any task. I'm so blessed to get an opportunity to review the Kneading Massager by SantaMedical, it basically helped prevent me from having the crippling back pain.

The item arrived yesterday, and without any wait I had to test it out. At this moment I don't have health coverage for getting a professional massage, so this item comes at the perfect time. The original box was a decent size, not to big or small... perfect size for storage in the linen closet. When opened, the contents were snugly wrapped and held in place. Once I removed everything from the box, I was surprised and excited to find that there was an extra cord for the cigarette holder. Yes... thanks to the extra cord for the cigarette lighter, this little massager can easily be kept in your vehicle, which would be perfect for traveling or anyone who has back pain. It also has a convenient thick elastic strap on the back of the massage pillow, so it can easily be held in place on the car seat head rest.

Feeling Exhausted

I've been feeling pretty rough the last few days, and super exhausted. I just finished doing laundry, and I'm completely wiped out. I'm in my 33rd week of my pregnancy, and I find that I have a hard time sleeping at night, but get the best sleep first thing in the morning. I also find that I always seem to need a nap in the middle of the afternoon, or I will seem like a zombie.

This time next week I will be at my cousins place... she's having a baby shower for me! Yippee! I've never been to one, and this will be my first since this is my first child. I'm excited, but scared that not that many people will show up. I'm limited when it comes to friends... I don't have that many female friends, which means it will probably be mostly family. It will be fun regardless of who shows up, and hopefully will see some family members that I haven't seen in a while.

I was planning on writing more, but I'm just too tired to stay awake... feeling like a zombie writing this! I will write more later... until then, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

It's Been a Fun-filled Week!

I used to always complain that my grandmother never threw a damn thing out. I would tease her that she was a borderline hoarder! Well, I'm happy to say that since she rarely throws anything out, she still has most of my baby clothes. Yes, she had stashed some newborn and toddler sized dresses, which I'm excited for my little angel to wear. Can't believe that my daughter will be wearing the clothes that I wore almost 35 years ago... and the type of dresses are hard to find these days. There's so many gorgeous ruffly dresses, all in almost new condition.

Since she had them put away in the cedar-chest, they all smelled like the wood... she's been having fun hand washing everything, and drying them in the sun on the balcony. I already have half of them put away in the babies room, and looking forward to seeing what other goodies are coming my way.

Having A Hard Time Adjusting: Pregnancy Body

For as long as I can remember I've always struggled with my weight. Growing up as a kid, I was made aware of my weight issue and had been placed on almost every diet known to man. At one point in my life I had ballooned well over 300 Lbs, and  truly hated my life at that time. It took a lot of soul searching to get up the courage, to work at losing a huge portion of the weight. The last couple years I managed to get down below 200 Lbs, and I was fairly satisfied, and still had goals that I was working on when it came to weight loss. My next goal was 175 Lbs, and I haven't met that as of yet.

I have been blessed with finding out that I'm pregnant, whereas, I was always told that I would most likely never give birth to my own child - due to health issues. I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant, and having a hard time dealing with the issue of putting on weight. So far I'm at an even 200 Lbs, and terrified of putting more on. I had put on some weight, but then actually lost some. The early months of the pregnancy I had gone up over 210 Lbs, but somehow managed to drop 10 Lbs. Looking at myself in the mirror I'm supposed to see the pregnancy beauty - glow... I just see that I'm a huge hippo. My stomach looks huge, almost like when I was obese before. I hate my body... I feel so fat and ugly and uncomfortable. Nothing fits, and I can't exactly afford pregnancy clothes... which makes me wish I kept some of my old fat clothes from the past.

For those of you who have been following my blog for some time, you most likely read up on my weight loss journey... the gastric bypass surgery and other surgeries I've had. The doctors warn everyone who have the surgeries, of the hanging skin, possible health problems that can come after, etc.... nothing prepared me for this. Dropping weight does help, however, it's still something that is a daily struggle. No doctor can change the thoughts that are in your mind... they will always be there. If you're obese and trying to lose weight, no weight loss pill, diet plan, or surgery will fix your bad habits... it's got to come from within. Having an eating disorder, no matter what type, is a major struggle that will haunt you.

So that's where I'm at right now... my daily struggle to make sure that I eat healthy so that my little angel can grow, but at the same time trying to love myself even when I feel pregnant and fat. Today is a slight downer, but hopefully tomorrow I will be smiling.

Having Trouble Conceiving? Try the SpermCheck Fertility- A Home Fertility Test for Men!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I'm in my early 30's, and half of my friends are having kids or already started a family. I've had a miscarriage in the past, but haven't been successful having children until now. I don't have kids quite yet, however, I am pregnant. I'm farther along then I've ever been... I'm in my second trimester, and so far the baby appears to be healthy.

A little while ago when I was trying to get pregnant, I was doing pretty much everything I've read up on to help increase my odds. Since I have PCOS, a heart-shaped uterus, and 2 cervix's, I had it in my heart that I most likely would not be able to have children. Well, I'm happy to say that I've been blessed with a little angel... I'm so happy.

If you're someone who's been trying to conceive for some time, and haven't had any luck... there's many things that you can try. I was contacted by the company Spermcheck Fertility to test out their product.

SpermCheck Fertility is an accurate, affordable and easy-to-use home test for determining your sperm count. Fertility experts estimate that male fertility issues are the culprit in at least 40% of couples who are experiencing difficulty in conceiving, and point to low sperm count as one of the main causes of male sub-fertility and infertility. With SpermCheck Fertility, you will know within minutes if your sperm count is within “normal” range.

Interpreting the results of the SpermCheck test is simple. A positive result indicates that your sperm count is above 20 million sperm per milliliter of semen, which is the accepted standard among fertility experts for “normal” sperm count. A negative result indicates that your count is below the 20 million sperm per milliliter threshold, and that further testing by your doctor might be warranted to determine if low sperm count is causing any fertility issues.

Best of all, the SpermCheck test can be conducted in the privacy of your own home, providing you with valuable information about your fertility status – without the expense, embarrassment and inconvenience that often accompanies a clinical semen analysis. dad and babyWhy Test Your Sperm Count?

Low sperm count is one of the main causes of fertility issues in men. Simply put, a low sperm count decreases the probability that one of the sperm will be able to successfully fertilize the egg.

Because couples who are trying to conceive are often under a tremendous amount of stress and uncertainty, identifying barriers to conception is extremely helpful. By using SpermCheck Fertility to measure your sperm count, you can quickly determine if it is necessary to explore treatment options, including male fertility supplements (such as clinically-tested FertilAid for Men), prescription drugs and/or varicocele surgery, to increase your sperm count and enhance your chances of conceiving.

Does it actually work? My partner and I tried the home test, and the results appeared to be normal. Of course it doesn't replace going to the doctor and having tests performed, but is a nice and convenient way of a little reassurance.
