  2. 79% of annual world cereal + soy harvest is consumed by the 20billion "farm- animals".
  3. To produce 1 kg of meat, you need 7-16 kg corn or soy beans+ 15.000 litres of water.

Earth Balance: the perfect balance in my life!

For those of you who have been following me on my crazy weight loss journey, then you know that I've been more strict when it comes to what I put on and in my body. Not only am I still looking to lose more weight, but I also want to be as healthy as I can. I'm very picky when it comes to using butter or margarine, as well as many dairy products. In the past I've noticed a product line called Earth Balance, and was always curious about the quality, as well as the taste. For some reason when you're picking out products that state that they're more healthy, all natural, etc., you somehow expect it to taste... not as yummy as the original unhealthy versions. To my amazement, Earth Balance is actually good!

With a wide range of products, they're the perfect vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free, trans-fat free, casein-free, which make them the healthy, yet yummy choice.  Here are some of the type of products that they offer:

  • Soy milk (original, unsweetened, vanilla, and chocolate).
  • Spreads (original, olive oil, soy free, soy garden, and whipped).
  • Dressings (original, organic, and olive oil).
  • Soy Nog
  • Nut Butters (crunchy coconut, creamy coconut, creamy peanut, crunchy peanut, creamy almond).
  • Baking Sticks/ Shortening
  • Coconut Spread
  • Food Services (wholesale items for businesses)

I tested out a few products that they offer: Earth Balance Olive Oil Spread, Soy Milk Unsweetened, as well as the Earth Balance Baking Sticks. All of them were excellent, and to be honest I enjoyed them more then my usual brands.

The soy milk I prefer to actual dairy milk. It has a natural creamy and smooth texture to it, yet it's not gritty like some other soy brands. It also doesn't leave any aftertaste, so it doesn't leave you thirsty after. I love to use this for my morning cereal, drink as a replacement to a glass of milk, and use for tea/coffee as well as cooking creamy soups.

The Olive Oil Spread had the consistency similar to butter. It wasn't super soft like other margarine, probably because it didn't have all the added garbage to it! It was mild in flavor, melted nicely, and was able to spread it easily on my toast. It wasn't overly salty, and actually had a clean taste. The Baking Sticks were the same as the spread, just conveniently measured out for easy baking. I made banana bread with it, and it turned out as good as usual!

So if you're looking for a healthier alternative to some of your favorite grocery shopping items, try out Earth Balance... trust me, your body will thank you for it! Where can you find their products? They should be available at your local grocery stores. I know that Metro, Loblaws, and Whole Foods carry them.

Check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!

Coupons for product(s) were provided for the purpose of review. I am not paid to write this review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

When it comes to my body I'm very picky about what I put on,  and in it. I have sensitive skin, so I only use the very best when it comes to cleaning products, beauty products, vitamins, make-up and hair care. Since my surgery I've been  spending extra care in reading labels, buying natural and organic products. One company that I've come across recently is Niche Premium Hair Care. Niche takes pride in providing Natural Hair Products, that are at least 98% organic, 100% top quality, and have been around for almost 20 years.

Monave Vegan Lip Gloss Giveaway!

Monave Lip Glaze is the perfect compromise between lipstick and lip balm. I love the silky feel on my lips and the natural tint. The lip glaze is vegan and gluten-free, with pigments from 100% naturally derived minerals. It's great for daily wear and a relaxed look. It is free of irritants and preservatives, abiding by the philosophy that makeup should have organic food-based ingredients. Since a lot of what I put on my lips ends up in my body, it's important to me to know that I am not ingesting questionable chemicals. The Monave Lip Glaze contains castor oil, castor wax, vitamin E, natural raspberry oil and other natural substances. Oh and did I mention it looks fabulous?

My Lip Stuff Holiday Teaser Review

My Lip stuff is a company that offers handmade lip balm in over 500 flavours. They take pride in in using natural ingredients, and are 'Skin, Earth, & Animal Friendly'. Yes, that means they're vegan! There are so many to choose from, it's almost impossible to walk away with just one. There's a flavour for every mood!

I would like to say thank you to Brea from My Lip Stuff, for the opportunity to test and review three of their products. I am now a fan for life, and will enjoy wearing many of their yummy flavours. I really like when a lip balm has flavour to it, but they always seem to taste like wax. This is not the case with My Lip stuff. Many of their lip balms taste as yummy as they smell!

Monday Getting to Know Me!

Happy Monday! It's time for you to get to know me a little more...

PhotobucketIt's time to play:
My Monday question of the week... Did you give out candy for Halloween? If so, what candy did you give out? Is it the same ever year?
Well... I live in an apartment building so I don't give out candy at my door. I do contribute candy though, and they hand it out in the lobby on Halloween night. I haven't celebrated Halloween in years... I kind of miss it!

GiveawayBlogdomMy Admirer Monday question of the week...  there is none yet!
My friend is trying to get caught up, as she was under the weather. I guess I'm not the only one who fell behind while in the hospital.

Why I don't Eat Eggs

I used to eat a lot of eggs, as I thought that eating just the eggs doesn't hurt chickens. I imagined a dozen hens pecking wherever they like, enjoying life in the warmth of the sun, dustbathing, and forming social bonds, free to move about with a few chicks in tow and each hen with a cozy personal nest to lay her eggs in when she wanted to. Of course, Farmer John would occasionally whack off someone's head with his axe on special occasions to eat the oldest, over-the-hill bird, but until those last few seconds, life would be good for the hens. I turned a blind eye to the realities of modern-day agriculture.
