Staff Uniforms Make an Impression
Restaurants are not just all about appealing to people’s appetites. Somewhere within the whole equation, the atmosphere that a restaurant generates emerges as an important factor. How a restaurant creates ambiance with its table settings and decor are one thing, but it really creates something different with the look of its staff, waiters and servers alike.
Seeing a restaurant’s staff in staff uniforms gives customers a sense of confidence. Restaurant employees who work in such a service and hospitality industry work directly with customers while they continuously deliver hot meals to tables and try to keep open tables clean and clear for the next set of diners. By coming in such close contact with customers, these employees make a big difference in a restaurant’s image because they essentially make the first impression on customers with their appearance.
The best way for these staff members to make an impression is to maintain a clean appearance. Therefore, their shirts and pants need to appear neat, clean and pressed at all times or as much as possible. Service aprons are a very important part of the uniform for waiters and servers in the restaurant industry. Whether aprons are white or colored, they are an important part of the staff uniform.
Companies like Sharpe Uniform have an extensive inventory of uniform supplies like aprons. Many of the uniform supplies are made in USA aprons and other items for the restaurant, service and hospitality industries.

The failsafe DIY route to super-spotless legs (because it’s time for their summer debut!)
So summer is here and you've got those legs all super-smooth and ready to bare. But what about all the little nicks and spots and marks that have accumulated on your gams over years of mosquito warfare, shaving mishaps and ingrown hair battles? Wouldn’t you rather show off a pair of flawless pins? Yes? Start with these DIY recipes (alternate them on a twice-weekly basis), follow up with a few tricks of the makeup trade, and voila… your legs are all set for short skirts and swimsuit season!
Spotless legs step #1: The DIY coffee-mint scrub
Coffee’s caffeine content boosts circulation while drawing out impurities and excessive liquids to firm up the skin; brown sugar is an excellent deep cleanser and exfoliator that lifts away dead and dry skin to reveal a fresh glow; peppermint oil boosts circulation and adds radiance to dull and ashy skin; and grape seed oil is a potent antioxidant and astringent, which makes it good at toning and tightening the skin, while refining the pores.
You will need
1/2 cup coffee grounds
1 tbsp brown sugar (or coarse white sugar)
2 oz grape seed oil
8-10 drops peppermint oil
How-to
1. Pour the coffee, sugar, peppermint oil and grape seed oil in a bowl; mix well.
2. Rub the mixture into your legs, thighs and buttocks using circular motions to exfoliate. I normally do this in the shower, right before switching on the water.
3. Scrub for 5-10 minutes, then rinse.
Spotless legs step #2: Papaya and pineapple leg mask
Both these fruits overflow with natural fruit enzymes (AHAs) that slow off dead, pigmented and scarred skin cells; honey is a natural humectant that moisturizes your skin; lemons have natural bleaching properties; while both aloe vera and cocoa butter are potent skin healers that also help fade any residual cuts and marks.
You will need
1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
1 cup fresh papaya pieces
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp aloe vera gel or cocoa butter
How-to
1. Blend together the pineapple, papaya and honey until smooth; add the lemon juice and mix well.
2. Apply the mixture evenly over clean legs and thighs; leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse.
3. Massage in a thin layer of the aloe vera gel or cocoa butter over the freshly cleansed skin.
What are some of your secret tricks to making your legs look awesome?

Some Old Memory Fun
I've been going through some old photos the last little while, and I came across some cute ones of my grandmother. Looking at the wide range of pictures scattered across my bed that I need to put in albums, it brings back so many fun, yet crazy memories. Memories of all the places that we have been, memories of places that we talked about going to, and quite a few pictures seem to have me laughing. One picture in particular that I came across on my Instragram account reminds me of one of her obsessions... anything lottery related. I'm sure she would love a casino bonus to visit a local casino for some exciting entertainment, and an all around good time. It's been years since we've gone together... she's now mostly into scratch cards, due to the fact that she doesn't drive.
I recently came across an online site that offers some fun casino gaming. I'm not much of a game person, but for those of you who enjoy it, the site offers no deposit bonus codes. These are special bonus codes for new and existing members.
What are some of your favorite memories with family and friends? What are some of your favorite things to do to kill time? Most of mine would involve my grandmother and mother, and there's never a shortage of new memories.

Why Moroccan mint tea is your skin’s secret weapon!
It rarely gets hotter than summer in Morocco, where average temperatures cross the 40°C (104°F) mark with scorching regularity. Add in the dry, dusty desert winds and you have an oven of a country, where even the air conditioners struggle against the forces of nature. So how is it that you see people sitting and sipping HOT tea everywhere in Morocco, all through the day? Surely, no mere mortal could be that immune to the heat – even with some sizzling genetics thrown into the mix?
They are definitely not immune. It’s actually the tea itself that bolsters their body against the heat, packed as it is with lashings of mint. Mint, you see, is something of a wonder herb. Not only is it superb at cooling down the body (menthol, a chemical in mint, binds with our body’s cold-sensitive receptors to trick our brain into actually feeling a cold sensation) and raising its defenses against the heat, these green sprigs also act as a powerful antioxidant, soothe an upset stomach, relieve heartburn, boost mental performance, promote focus, loosen congestion, break up coughs, chase away bad breath, inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungus, help with nasal allergies, cleanse the blood and clear up skin disorders (like acne). Whew!
Add in all the already-established benefits of green tea and you have a potent blend that’s not only unusually cooling but also packed with enough health and beauty benefits to have me chasing up the best Moroccan mint tea recipe that can be recreated outside of Morocco. Fortunately, it’s a pretty simple task. All you need is a handful of mint leaves (fresh spearmint works best but any garden variety will do the job), some green tea (again, gunpowder green tea holds up best against the assertive flavours of mint but any green tea will work) and the sweetener of your choice. All set? Here’s you go about making the best Moroccan mint tea for your health, beauty and body temperature!
Moroccan mint tea: Ingredients
2 tbsp loose green tea (or 3 green tea bags)
3/4 cup mint leaves
sugar to taste (traditionally it’s sugar but you can use Stevia or honey)
6 cups water
Moroccan mint tea: How-to
1. Bring water to a boil. Turn off heat, add the mint and allow to steep for 5 minutes.
2. Return the water to a boil, turn heat to lowest setting, then add the tea and sweetener (I normally use 2 teaspoons of brown sugar). Allow everything to lightly simmer for no more than 3 minutes as green tea becomes bitter when steeped too long.
3. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the biggest leaves and check the sweetness – simply stir in more sweetener, if needed.
4. Serve into tall and narrow glasses (or short shot glasses) and garnish with a sprig of mint – then sip, repeat and chill out. If hot tea is not your thing, make iced Moroccan mint tea by refrigerating until cold or pouring cooled tea over ice.
PS: If you are feeling exceptionally Moroccan, pour the tea from as high as you can manage (I am currently topping 12 inches after a week’s practise!). This creates the characteristically frothy top you will spot in authentic Moroccan mint tea. It also aerates the tea, creating a richer palate.
Ever since I discovered Moroccan mint tea, there is always a huge pitcher in my fridge and you will find me sipping on its icy coolness every couple of hours. And this minted-and-sweetened brew has made me feel so good, it’s unbelievable. No stomach upsets for one thing and even my annual summer-heat-induced acne is staying at bay. Plus, it tastes delicious. Try it once – and tell me whether you fell in love with the refreshing mintiness as well!
Have you ever tried Moroccan mint tea?

Want to make your hair grow faster? It’s much easier than you think
Maybe you've had a bad haircut (me… actually not a bad haircut, just a really short bob that doesn't look half as good out of the salon). Or are craving sexy, face framing tresses. Or are prepping for a big occasion. Or channeling Blake Lively’s cool-girl spirals. Or maybe you just want a change. Whatever the reason, these easy-to-do-at-home beauty recipes will speed up the rate of hair growth so that you get the long and luscious locks of your dreams. Do them twice a week – I normally alternate all of them in turn. Which one will you try first?
Hair growth mask #1: Pass the mayo please. And the mustard.
Put 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (preferably freshly made), 1 tablespoon mustard and a dash of cayenne pepper in a small bowl; stir well till everything is blended. Rub the mixture all over your scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then was with your regular shampoo.
Hair growth mask #2: Drunk on length
Pour 2 tablespoons each of castor oil and cognac in a small bowl; mix well. Apply this all over your scalp, then wash out with shampoo after 25 minutes.
Hair growth mask #3: All for aloe
Mix together 2 tablespoons each of aloe vera juice and honey. Apply the mixture all over your scalp and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and shampoo.
Are you trying to grow out your hair? What are your secret tips for speeding up the process?

Can't Sleep... Goal Setting Time!
It's going for 7 AM ET and I still haven't been to sleep. Normally I sleep by 3 AM at the latest, but for some reason I wasn't able to this time. It's been a long time since I've had a night like this, especially when I have to work the next day. I guess part of it I could blame on my new toy... iPhone 5S. I had the 4S previously, but it was finally starting to act up. I have also been watching TV, blogging, and of course tossing and turning in bed. Somewhere during all this, I decided to weigh myself... scary shit!
The last time that I weighed myself I was 192 Lbs, and tonight I was 198.5 Lbs. I feel like I've let myself go, and I swore after the major life changing surgery, that I wouldn't fuck up again. I haven't been eating anything too crazy, but I haven't been going to the gym either. I've also haven't been careful when it comes to cocktails or iced coffees this summer, which is just wasted calories. As of last night, I've decided to get back into logging my food and exercise. Time to keep track of everything that goes in my mouth... MyFitnessPal is my go to tool for that. On top of that, I like to use my Fitbit to track my physical activity... every step counts!
It's time to set some new goals for myself, so here goes...
180 Lbs by September 1st, 2014
170 Lbs by October 1st, 2014
150 Lbs by December 31, 2014
I know my next goal stated under my Health and Weight Loss tab is 175 Lbs... which is very important to me. Baby steps for the next week or so, until I break some of my bad habits again. I always find that the first two weeks are the hardest... once you get off the crap, you don't crave it anymore. I will also be starting up an old blog hop from the past... Thinspiration Sunday's!

How to Keep Track of Your Medications and Vitamins
I'm on a number of medications and since my gastric bypass surgery, I have so many vitamins and other supplements that I'm required to take. I find it hard to remember throughout the day what I've taken, and at times I end up forgetting or taking double. Thanks to my new FOLIO by Sabi, I no longer have that problem.
What is this little device you may ask? It's a cute pill organizer that has two compartments for every day. So what I like to do is put my morning pills in the top area for each day, and then the remaining for the day in the bottom portion.
What makes this organizer stand out above the rest, is that it has a nice leather-like cover. The cover is black and can easily be wiped clean with a cloth. The inside is made of BPA free plastic, and is nicely sealed to prevent pills from moving and shifting. The case is very strong and durable, and is held closed by a pretty blue elastic.
The FOLIO is perfect for traveling and can easily get tossed in a purse, gym bag, travel bag, or suitcase.
- Capacity: 6 capsules per day
- Weight: 160 g/5.6 oz
- Dimensions: H: 171 mm x W: 97 mm x D: 22 mm/H: 6.7 in x W: 3.8 in x D: 0.9 in
- Compartments: W: 20 mm x L: 36 mm x D: 14 mm/W: 0.8 in x L: 1.4 in x D: 0.6 in
- 7 x 2-compartment (a.m./p.m.) pill box inscribed for each day of the week
- Looks like Molskine-style memo book
- Durable elastic band ensures secure closure
- Universal flip-open lid makes loading and extracting pills easy
- Rounded pill box compartments make pills easy to extract
- BPA-free
- Cloth-cleanable
Interested in getting your own FOLIO? Of course you are... click here! Swing by and check out their Facebook... you never know when you may come across a deal!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Heads up: Orange juice will give you a bad hair day!
While that vitamin C-packed glass of orange juice is a powerful way to boost collagen, thereby improving skin elasticity and halting premature ageing, having it at breakfast might not be the best news for your hair. Leading trichologist Philip Kingsley explains: “In some people, orange juice, white wine and dairy products trigger a change in the level of sweat and sebum (natural oils). When these levels change, dandruff-causing microorganisms start flourishing, causing the scalp to flake.” Ugh! Right?
So, what should our breakfast plans look like? Hair experts concur that eating protein in the morning is what’s most important as this is when protein levels in the hair follicle are lowest. Also necessary: Vitamins A and B, zinc and essential fatty acids. Which means that a hair-power-packed breakfast should include eggs, bacon, wholegrain cereals and a tofu or flaxseed-based green smoothie. That sounds delish enough, thankfully.
Have you ever noticed a link between what you eat and your hair? And what’s YOUR go-to breakfast plan?

The sun damage is done… now what? Now you whip up this face mask to get your skin back on track
Let’s be honest. You aren’t always going to slather on the sunscreen every 2 hours. Nor are you going to sit out a gorgeous summer day just because the sun will do a number on your skin. Which leaves us with hyper pigmentation (patchy skin and evil spots, in plain English), a dull and dehydrated complexion and the hastening of fine lines and wrinkles. Any solutions?
Thankfully, yes. This DIY face mask will undo the sun damage with a power-punch of skin lightening tannins, smoothness boosting enzymes and free radical busting vitamin C. No, this does not give you the license to bake 24×7. Nor will it ward off the sun’s potential for skin cancer. Consider it to be more like an antibiotic you take to stave off occasional damage rather than a supplement that replaces sunscreen.
You will need...
1 apple, peeled and pureed
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tablespoons powdered milk
How to make the mask
1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl till you get a paste-like consistency.
2. Apply this paste all over face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse with plain water.
3. Store the remaining paste in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

Beauty Benefits of Lavender: DIY Recipes!
To me, there is nothing more redolent of summer than lavender. Just its fragrance is enough to evoke the memories of balmy days that last forever, soft purple bushes shimmering against a blue sky, emerald green grass glowing with refreshing droplets of dew, rolling fields stretching towards the mountains… all of childhood rolled into one pretty package.
But lavender is much more than just a pretty flower. It is also one of the most powerful remedies in the plant world, offering relief for problems as varied as sunburns, acne and dandruff – because of which the ancient Egyptians and Romans treasured the oil extracted from its leaves and flowers. Lavender owes this amazing spectrum of healing powers to its complex chemical makeup, which is chockfull of antiseptic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory goodness. Even a mere whiff of its fragrance has potent aromatherapy benefits. And this is no subtle, old lady fragrance – it’s a heady scent that rivals bottled perfume.
Rejuvenating lavender toner
How to: Take a handful of fresh lavender and 100 ml water. Boil the water and then pour in the lavender buds, making sure they are completely submerged. Cover the bowl and leave the brew to steep for a few hours. Then drain the mixture, pour the water into a clean glass bottle and store in the refrigerator. After washing your face in the morning, spray a little bit of the lavender water on a cotton pad and gently wipe your face to instantly refresh the skin.
The science: Lavender boosts circulation, thereby increasing blood flow and ensuring that the skin cells receive adequate nutrition and oxygen. This keeps the cells healthy and boosts their turnover.
Anti-acne lavender remedy
How to: Dab lavender oil onto acne blemishes or skin infections with a cotton swab.
The science: Essential lavender oil is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. These properties allow it to both attack the bacteria causing acne infections and reduce the swelling and redness.
Lavender sunburn soother
How to: Add a few drops of lavender oil to a bowl of cool water. Make a compress and apply it to the sunburn.
The science: Lavender oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, so it helps reduce itching, swelling and redness.
Lavender burn cure
How to: Pour a few drops of lavender oil onto cotton and apply to burns for healing sans scars.
The science: Lavender oil’s burn-healing superpowers are responsible for the birth of modern aromatherapy. In 1928 a French chemist, René-Maurice Gattefossé, burned his hand. He accidentally applied lavender oil to it and noticed the burn healed much faster than expected. David then discovered that lavender stimulates new skin cell formation. This reduces scarring and helps burns heal quicker. It also works as a pain reliever, while the antiseptic action helps reduce infection.
Lavender detox sugar scrub

The science: Lavender contains powerful antioxidants, which counter the effects of environmental pollution on the skin. Plus, it also helps dispel stress and nerves, both of which make skin appear coarse and lifeless.
Purifying lavender face mask
How to: Add 3-5 drops of pure lavender oil to 1 tablespoon of organic yogurt and apply to your face (avoiding eye area) for 10-15 minutes; rinse with warm water.
The science: Lavender keeps acne-causing bacteria in check, while increasing cellular rejuvenation. This means you will have fewer acne breakouts and infections if you follow this recipe once a week.
Lavender boosts the circulatory system, thereby increasing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to skin cells.
Lavender wrinkle buster
How to: Beat an egg white and add 3 drops of lavender oil. Apply to your face for 20 minutes, then rinse well with warm water.
The science: Lavender eases tension, stress and inflammation – all of which are the major contributors to skin aging. Plus, it boosts the circulatory system, thereby increasing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to skin cells. In fact, one study found that women who have undergone Botox injections recover better after applications with diluted lavender oil.
Lavender mineral bath salts
How to: Mix 1 cup sea salt, 1 cup Epsom salts, 1⁄2 cup baking soda, 1⁄4 cup dried lavender flowers and 5-6 drops lavender essential oil; stir well. Spoon into a clean container with a tight fitting lid. Add 1 cup to your bath as you fill the tub; soak for 15-20 minutes.
The science: Mineral baths and bath salts are perfect for relaxing sore muscles and rejuvenating the body. Lavender, in the meantime, is astringent and cleanses the skin.
Lavender body scrub
How to: Place 1 cup dried lavender flowers, 2 cups whole oatmeal and ½ cup baking soda in a food processor or blender. Grind until you have a smooth, fine powder with the consistency of whole grain flour. Store in a dry, clean container. To use, pour 1/2 cup in your bath as you fill the tub.
The science: Lavender is a relaxant, while oatmeal and baking soda are soothing to dry, sensitive skin.
Lavender body butter
How to: Combine 1⁄4 cup cocoa butter, 2 tablespoons sunflower oil, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon flax seed oil, 2 tablespoons grated beeswax and 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil; gently heat until melted (in the microwave or on the stove top on low heat). Stir well and add the lavender essential oil, pour into a clean container and allow to cool completely. To use, massage into your skin, especially rough spots such as elbows, heels and knees.
The science: This rich body butter works as a potent salve to heal dry areas, soothe the skin and make it glow-y.
Lavender hair mask
How to: Crush ½ cup lavender florets; add ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar and stir well. Then stir in 1 cup applesauce and 1 teaspoon sea salt. Apply a thick layer of this paste to dry hair, pre-shampoo. Wrap your head with plastic film and cover with a towel. Relax for 8-10 minutes. Rinse well and shampoo as usual.
The science: Lavender has a gentle clarifying action on the scalp, while also helping to normalize sebum (oil) production and restoring a healthy bounce to hair.
Lavender dandruff destroyer
How to: Wet hair with warm water and towel dry. Mix 15 drops of lavender essential oil in 2 tablespoons olive or almond oil. Microwave for about 10 seconds or until it feels warm. Massage the oil into your scalp, pop on a shower cap, let set for an hour, then shampoo out.
The science: Lavender oil rejuvenates the follicles, thereby encouraging hair growth. It also kills lice and dandruff; regular use can improve your hair texture.
The scent of lavender increases alpha waves in the area of the brain responsible for relaxation Lavender relaxing remedy.
How to: Put a handful of dried lavender in a vase on your nightstand – or use a diffuser with lavender oil.
The science: Breathing in the smell of lavender lowers heart rate and blood pressure, putting you in a relaxed state.
Lavender sleep spray
How to: Combine ½ cup distilled water, 1 teaspoon witch hazel and 5-6 drops lavender essential oil; pour into a clean spray bottle. Spritz onto clean skin or fresh linens before going to sleep. Lavender tea can also be helpful.
The science: The scent of lavender increases alpha waves in the area of the brain responsible for relaxation. Besides this, it also shortens the length of time taken to fall asleep and helps ease you into deep, REM sleep faster.
Lavender bloat buster
How to: Sprinkle dried culinary-grade lavender on Greek yogurt. The science: Bloating and poor digestion are usually the consequence of “bad” bacteria. The polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) in lavender help reduce these bad bacteria, while increasing digestive capability and allowing food to pass through easily.
