Happy Victoria Day!

So tomorrow is Victoria Day, which means fireworks! I am finally starting to feel better than I was... I've had a nasty cough that I just can't get rid of. I wasn't able to sleep much last night. Every time I'd lay down in bed I would start coughing. Vivek was sleeping over and I didn't want to wake him up... so kept leaving the room. Good thing I found out this morning... he didn't hear a thing! He was snoring away and didn't wake up even though I was right next to him.

We finally heard from his mom... she arrived in India safely. It is a huge load off his shoulders knowing that she's okay... he was so worried and stressed that he didn't sleep for two days. He stayed last night at my place knowing that if he was at home he wouldn't get any sleep. He is very close to his mom... he's her baby boy. He was all happy and goofy after he talked to her... had tears in his eyes. He is a very sensitive, caring man, and that is why I love him.

Sunday afternoon i goofed big time. I didn't sleep much the night before, and took an extra lorazepam early in the morning. I turned off my cellphone so that I would be able to sleep... not thinking that someone would worry. Well around 3pm there was a bang on my door. I was like what the hell... I went to look through the peep hole and it was my boyfriend. He had come over worried that something had happend. He was on the phone with my mom and told her I was fine. I scared the hell out of them... they thought something bad happend.




Right now it's 6am and I can't sleep. I've been awake all night again... it's become a terrible habit. I am supposed to go back to work on Sunday... so I have to try to get back to normal hours.

Welcome To My Family

Tonight Vivek met my family for the first time, and it went better then I could have hoped for. I worried that mom and grandma would not like him, as they were not originally comfortable with the different culture and race. It's been over a year now and he finally met them.

This evening he enjoyed a turkey dinner with my mom, grandma, uncle Gary, aunt Mary, cousin Danielle and her boyfriend Shawn, and Dave who is my cousin Denise's husband. There's still a few members of the family he needs to meet, but I'm so happy that it went well. I feel that a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and now I can love him and be happy. I'm so in love with him...

Vivek I love you... thank you for being my best friend... MUAH!

29th Birthday

Another birthday just passed... October 27 I turned 29. Just one more year to go and then I hit the big 30. Where does the time fly to? Well I didn't really do anything for my birthday yet. I went out to dinner with mom and grandma to Boston pizza... I got a coupon for a free birthday meal! I will be celebrating my birthday today with Vivek.

Over the last year I have been careful what to write on my blog... I haven't been fully open as I wanted to be. I was going through a rough time and wanted to fully write what was on my mind. I did, however, left out the part that I had met someone else... Vivek. I wanted to wait until my divorce was final before I mentioned anything. No Vivek is not the reason for the divorce... he was a true friend at first who was there for me... and then I fell in love when I least expected. I did keep a blog for him:

Anyway, tonight we are going to dinner and a movie! Not sure what movie yet but we will decide once we get to the theater. Originally we were thinking of seeing something scary since it's Halloween weekend, but I think I rather see a romantic comedy.

How Cats Display Affection

Felines often use subtle techniques to display affection; these signals can be missed by an inexperienced owner. Here are the most common signs.

Blinking:
Cats usually meet strangers and potential adversaries (feline, human, and otherwise) with an unblinking, unflinching stare. In the cat world, the ultimate gesture of trust and acceptance is for one model to close its eyes in the company of another. A feline that greets its owner's presence with long, unconcerned blinks or languid, half-closed eyes is signaling deep trust.

Grooming:
The fact that your cat allows you to groom it signifies a deep level of trust and acceptance. In the wild, cats employ mutual grooming as a stress-relieving and relationship-building gesture. Sometimes a particularly demonstrative cat will groom its human owner.
Head Rubbing: Cats' faces contain scent glands that they use to mark their territory. When a cat rubs its face determinedly against its owner, it is both displaying affection and "marking" that person as its exclusive property.

Kneading:
Rhythmically pressing its front paws against its owner recreates the "milk tread" kittens use during nursing to stimulate milk flow from their mother.

Stomach Display:
Occasionally a feline may roll over and show its stomach to you. Revealing its soft underbelly is as profound a gesture of trust as any feline can provide. Remember, however, that this is not necessarily an invitation for you to scratch its stomach. Indeed, doing so may cause the cat to switch rapidly into defense mode.
