Today was a big day... it was Brianna's first day of full day daycare. I've been waiting for this day for a long time, as I had been waiting for the subsidy as well as a placement. She's just a few weeks shy of her third birthday, and she's finally in daycare. Up until now, it's been my mother and grandmother caring for her while I'm at work. Family is great, but she was starving for some friends.
I was a nervous wreck all day while at work, worrying that things were okay. I kept thinking that maybe she'd be crying for me. Maybe they'd forget to check her PullUps and she'd have poop in her diaper... yep, we're still battling the potty training. I was anxious when it came time to drop her off this morning, thinking that she'd cry when I left. I checked her in, spoke to her teacher, and said my "see you later", and she just sat down with a toy and waved bye with her back turned! Yep... she didn't give a shit! I felt sad, but happy at the same time.
All day I was wondering if I was going to get a call from the daycare or my mother. Kept checking my phone to see if there were any messages... none. Did she miss me? Did she realize I was gone? Was she having fun? 5PM finally came around, and work was finished... time to pick up the little Munchkin. I walked in and saw her playing with a couple little kids. I called her name, and she smiled and came running. I felt amazing that she was happy to see me, but of course she pulled my hand to come play with her! I spoke to one of her teachers, and found out that she was good today. She played, put toys away when asked, ate all her lunch, napped during nap time, and even attempted potty time.
It was a good day, and I can't wait to hear her stories in the days to come.
