MailPix: Turning Images into Memories ~ iPhone or Keepsake Box Giveaway!

I have always been interested in snapping photos at every event. You can usually find me at the front of all occasions with a camera stuck to my face. Yes, I LOVE snapping pictures of all kinds of stuff, not just special occasions. I'm usually the go to person if you want to remember an event... the one who's in charge of holiday, birthday... all photos. I don't do this as a career, it's mainly a hobby. I did enjoy studying photography in school as well as college, and have many photos scattered throughout my home. What better way to remember life's special moments than taking a picture? Why not take your favorite photos and turn them into long lasting memories? MailPix is a company that takes your special photos and creates them into gorgeous works of art: canvas prints, books, greeting cards, wall decor, photo gifts and much more.

I've purchased all kinds of photo items in the past, but nothing compares to the simplicity of MailPix. It's so easy to create and order your photo gifts online, that even someone who's not great with computers could still do it. With the beauty of doing this online, you're saving so much then if you were to walk in and do the same thing via store. A little under a year ago I got married and I ordered some nice customizable wedding photo-books, and I wish I had heard about them sooner. Not only would it have saved me money, but it would have also saved on time.

Original product from website.
I received two products for review recently: Keepsake Box with Photo Tile, and an iPhone Case. I decided to go with the theme of weddings, as wedding season is pretty much upon us. I already have some stuff celebrating my wedding, but I didn't have any unique items like what MailPix offered. Both items exceeded my expectations, and they truly captured the beauty of the moment. The colors were beautifully vibrant and rich, and the products were excellent quality.

My favorite item has to be the Keepsake Box, which I would use as a cute little jewelry box. It looks super pretty on my dresser, it's lightweight, but solid enough that my cat won't knock it on the floor. The wood  arrived marked free, and has a nice matte-like finish. It's not quite a cherry colored wood, but not quite a hazelnut color... I'd say somewhere in between. No matter what color wood you have in your home, this would match any room. The inside of the box is nicely lined with a cream colored felt-like material, but the original item page states that it's supposed to be white. To be honest, I actually prefer the cream, as it would hide any dust or dirt that may add up over time. The box measures 5.5" x 5.5" and is 2.25" deep. The inlaid tile is a 4.25" square.

The iPhone case was a fun item that is great for everyday use. I normally use a pink cover for my phone, but I love to change it up and use the new customized one from MailPix every once in a while. It's a nice hard plastic case, that helps protect your iPhone, and is glossy but not overly glossy. It's actually a matte gloss... if that makes sense?! I've had the case on my phone for a few weeks now, and it's protected my phone through my daily abuse. I've dropped it many times, and it's still kicking... the phone as well as the case! There's a few little marks on the case from my abuse, but it hasn't scratched or chipped the case one bit. Any mark that was left on the case, was mostly a little scuff and isn't that noticeable. I've had family and friends comment about my case... and even had a stranger say they loved the idea.

Interested in turning your images into memories? Of course you are! Click here to visit MailPix today. Interested in in checking out their Facebook and/or Twitter? Of course you do... you never know when you may come across a deal!

Thanks to MailPix, one lucky reader has a chance to win either a Keepsake Box or iPhone case. To qualify you must be  a resident of the USA or Canada.

I received an item(s), in exchange for my honest opinion, and a review of my experience. I did not receive any other compensation or incentive nor was I required to write a positive review. Individual results or experiences may vary.

Exposed Envy: You'll be the Envy of All Your Friends~ Surprise Strap Giveaway!

There's so many pretty tops and dresses out there that I wish I could wear, but are designed for people with smaller breasts... as I don't know how anyone would be able to wear them without a bra. I'm someone who must wear a bra, unless I want my boobs down to my waist! Yes I know, it doesn't exactly paint a sexy picture, but being honest. Gotta love those tube tops, one shoulder tops, halter tops, and even strapless tops and dresses, but I've never been able to wear any of them in public. That is until now... until Exposed Envy. They're a company that sells stylish bra straps, so you can switch out the ugly with the pretty. No more worries about showing your ugly bra straps, going bra-less  or getting stuck having to wear a strapless bra.

I wish I came across this company a long time back, as I've missed out on so many cute outfits that required something like this. Just a year ago I had a pretty outfit that I was wearing to a formal occasion, but it had no straps. It took me forever to find a strapless bra that fit the outfit properly, and it still didn't give me the support that I truly needed. It somewhat worked out fine, but life would have been so much easier if I had a pretty pair of rhinestone bra straps to help dress it up.

I recently received some pretty items from Exposed Envy to review: a pretty pair of their rhinestone bra straps and matching bracelet, as well as a pretty purple pair of fabric sparkle bra straps. The straps came nicely wrapped in pretty little gift bags... excellent presentation and nicely wrapped for shipment. I honestly have to say that they have exceeded my expectations and more.

The purple pair of fabric sparkle bra straps are like any traditional color bra strap, but has some pretty jewels on them. They're available in many pretty colors, which make these perfect for everyday wear. Grab one in every color, to match all your funky summer outfits. The straps are stretchy in nature, fully adjustable, and lightly padded on the underside.

I'm in love with the pretty rhinestone bra straps that I received. These are perfect for any special occasion, and can be easily added to any adjustable bra. These come available in many different colors so you can perfectly match them with your pretty evening wear. Got a strapless dress? These would look super pretty and no one would even realize they're bra straps! You're able to wear them gem-side up, as well as gem-side down for a plain silver look. These too are adjustable, which use a clasp similar to everyday jewelry. What I truly loved about this set... is that it's available with a matching bracelet. LOVE IT!

They're all super pretty aren't they?! I bet you're interested in getting some of your own... click here to grab yours today! Interested in checking our their Facebook and Twitter? Of course you are... you never know when you may find a deal! Check out their blog for the latest fashion news!

Thanks to Exposed Envy one lucky reader has a chance to win their own funky bra straps! Winning bra straps will be left as a surprise... gotta love some mystery! To qualify, you must be a resident of the USA or Canada. All entries will be verified.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

5 WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN WHEN YOU ARE SICK

Just recovering from the flu (why can’t Mother Nature make up her mind and stop swinging between balmy spring breezes and freezing snowstorms please?) and my skin is paying the price. All of a sudden, it’s broken out into super-deep acne cysts, extreme dullness and flaky patches, which are getting far tougher to cure than the fever and cold themselves! My dermatologist tells me that I should have looked after my skin while I was sick in order to stave off the spotty, flushed, dehydrated side effects right at the beginning. Thankfully, her preventive measures are super-simple, ‘coz much as I love my beauty stuff, doing anything more complicated than blowing my nose was rather impossible between medications, itchy throats and fevers.

TURN TO MINT
There is nothing like an infection to make the skin look dull and completely lacklustre. Plus, the congestion is a terrific breeding ground for zit-causing bacteria. So, think mint. Copious amounts of mint, in every form possible. Tea, face pack, face wash, moisturiser… not only will natural mint-infused oils and creams open up a stuffy nose, they also help the skin breathe and detoxify. Aveda has some terrific options that will soothe both body and mind.

USE A HUMIDIFIER
I know, I know… this can be a pain but remember that decongestants dehydrate the skin, leaving it dry and flaky. Using a humidifier – especially at night – keeps moisture in the air, which maintains hydration levels in the skin and keeps it feeling supple (and comfortable!).

APPLY A COLD GEL MASK
Pop a cold gel mask in the fridge – it’s a terrific way of replacing the skin’s moisture and decongesting the face (while alleviating a pounding head for bonus brownie points). Jurlique’s Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Gel Mask makes for a terrific option.

KEEP YOUR NOSE MOISTURISED
Blowing your nose repeatedly? Stay prepared for red, dry and irritated skin around your nostrils, even with moisturised tissues. Unless (and I learnt this too late) you dab on a bit of cream on your nose after every blow. Creams that contain lipid-rich oils and ceramides are the best bet, like Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturizer.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER
And by “water”, I refer to the multitude of hydrating liquids out there – including green tea, iced tea, fresh juice etc etc etc. These will flush away the toxins, flush out the germs and stop your body (and hence skin) from overheating. For an added cold-busting kick, opt for drinks infused with fresh ginger and honey.

IS THIS THE MOST OFFENSIVE INFOGRAPHIC TO WOMEN EVER?

Today, I stumbled upon this gem of an infographic by The Modern Man. It’s titled 10 Reasons Why Men Don’t Find Fat Women Attractive and has some superb revelations like:

  • She looks like “used goods”
  • She lowers a man’s social status
  • Her diet costs a lot of money
  • She would likely be a selfish relationship partner

Now, I have been known to tip the scales a bit on the wrong side but exactly how does that make me “selfish”? And what about the fact that “fat” issues are not always about what you eat but oftentimes due to medical reasons such as thyroid imbalances, hormonal fluctuations, polycystic ovaries, certain kinds of medication… I could go on and on and on and on. And don’t even get me started on things like “used goods” and “social status”. Really? Do I need to even expound on these further or are they just self-explanatorily DISGUSTING?

I think this infographic is not just offensive to plus sized women, but actually to all women in general. In fact, I think it’s even offensive to men because seriously, what would you think about a man who subscribes to this school of thought? And do all men really think like this?

Please weigh in on the issue in the comments box… do you find this infographic offensive? Or is it merely stating the truth? In the meantime, please excuse me while I go lower my husband’s social status by a few notches. After all, the idiot deserves it for still staying with me… right?

Big Savings are Possible When Using Coupons

Couponing has become increasingly popular in the past few years. In fact for some, it has become an obsession. It is almost being treated like a contest or sport, and the winner will be determined by how much money was saved at the checkout. There are some who go to such extremes, that when their purchases are totaled up, they actually receive money. Who wouldn't get caught up in all of that excitement. Not only can you save a significant amount of money, but in some cases, if properly planned, you can actually get things for free.

There are many businesses that have formed due to the popularity of coupons. Many of these businesses are online coupon sites. By joining these sites, you are able to redeem coupons on a vast number of different items. There are also coupons that can be used on services as well. Such as, home cleaning and vehicle maintenance.

There is a great misconception when it comes to coupons. Many associate them with grocery items or toiletries. They don't realize, that there are coupons for many other things as well. For instance, I belong to an online coupon club, and I used a coupon that I found on the site for an online jewelry purchase. I was able to buy a pair of earrings for my mother for her birthday at a fraction of the regular retail price. All I had to do was sign in to the Select Aware online coupon portal.

If you are like many others, then you enjoy saving money when it is ever possible. The best way to save some money and take advantage of the many coupons that are offered, is to join one of the many online couponing sites. The amount of money you will save, will amaze you.

Comfort and Class - Creating an Inviting Living Room Without Sacrificing Style

Image from: www.freedigitalphotos.net
Living rooms by top designers may look stunning on Pinterest, but not many people can actually have a functional life while living in those spaces. Real life requires kid-proof, stain-resistant, and comfortable elements that make you want to be in your home without sacrificing style. The good news is that smart engineers and designers have created elements in our modern day that can support your lifestyle while complementing your style. Here are a few ideas for creating a beautiful living room you can actually live in.

Invest in an Excellent Arm Chair
The joke comes up in many movies and television shows: the man of the house has that comfortable, well-worn armchair for watching TV and drinking beer, and it’s an eyesore for his wife and the viewers alike. He doesn't want to get rid of it, because it’s comforting, so there it sits in the middle of the living room, and not even a slipcover will mask its intrusive ugliness. It’s time to invest in a chair that is both comfortable and stylish. Contrary to what the man in your life might think, these options do exist, and they’re wonderful. Do a bit of online research to find a chair you can compromise on.

Grab a few matching decorative pillows that are easy to clean and will add a few pops of color to the armchair. Set up some elements around it that will encourage your husband’s comfort and please your guests’ eyes. A small end table next to the arm chair with clean lines and a drawer will give him a place to hide away the TV remotes.

Plan a Color Scheme
Paint is one of the most inexpensive and dramatically-altering elements you can change in a room. Go for a consistent color scheme in colors you love. Warm tones will add comfort to a space. Consider painting an accent wall in a bright, bold color to add a splash of style. Choose paints with a gloss, which are washable in case your little ones decide to touch the walls with dirty hands or find a new coloring space. Keep some extra paint on hand in case unsightly knicks happen, and touch up those spots every once-in-a-while. Your artwork is the perfect place to add some style. If you have small children, implement lots of mirrors and wall art, since these items will be hung high out of children’s reach and can’t be knocked over like collectibles. Do some online searches to determine what type of style appeals to you most, and purchase and frame some prints that exemplify that style and your color scheme.

Paige One looks forward to writing about a variety of subjects, from fashion to interior design.
