Toronto Humane Society Yesterday

Good morning everyone and Happy Hump Day! Yes... that means that it's a Wednesday and the week is half over. Hmmm... okay so it doesn't really apply to me right now since I'm still a nerd and haven't found work.

Yesterday I had an interview with The Humane Society for administration assistant. I sooooooooooooooo want this job. The girl that interviewed me said that I would find out by the end of the week if I got the job. Oh, I'm praying that I get it. This is my dream job... well sort of... it would be my dream job if I was doing this and got paid like a million dollars! I know I wouldn't get paid that much since it's a charitable organization, but I don't care. I have wanted to go into animal care for so long and this is my chance. Please all my furry friends pray that I get it. I would be the one processing the adoptions and all the animals that come into the building as well.

When I was there for interview I had to check out all the animals of course. It was so depressing the numbers of animals... lines and lines of cages all over of furry animals that needed love. There were so many animals that even cages were lined up in the hallways because of running out of room. It makes me so angry that people don't take responsibility and spay and neuter their animals. If they did this half of the animals wouldn't be sitting in those cages. It's also so sad because so many of the animals are full grown and were brought back in their old age... some because of medical expenses, and some just because they didn't want them anymore. I don't know about you... but no way would I ever bring Jingles into a shelter because of medical expenses. I would be keeping Jingles forever... he is a part of my family, my best friend... and I would never abandon him.

PEOPLE PLEASE BEFORE GETTING A PET THINK IT THROUGH... UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY ANY MEDICAL EXPENSE AND PLAN TO HAVE THE ANIMAL FOR LIFE... DO NOT ADOPT OR BUY A PET... IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE ANIMAL.

  1. That is a very important message! It is heartbreaking to see fear and confusion in the eyes of the older cats who are "surrendered" by their owners.
