Summer Dinners: Cool, Easy and Fun Options

When the days are long and hot, no one wants to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Thankfully there are options for you to have a quick, easy and cool meal during the hottest days of the year. Check out three different ideas for how to do dinner in the dog days of summer.

Deliver to Your Home

Even if your favorite restaurant does not deliver, you can find tons of options through food delivery services in your area. Whether you crave a cool summer salad, sushi, a smoothie bowl, your favorite Asian dish, pizza, or anything in between there are tons of options through Foodora. Before you know it, you will be enjoying your food in your backyard or on your couch while enjoying your favorite movie.

Try a New Recipe

With so many food bloggers on the internet, there are plenty of wonderful summer recipes to try which require just a little effort from you and no heat required. There are hundreds of summer salads, sandwiches, or no-bake dishes you can be proud to create and serve to your family. If you are craving something hot to eat, bring out your grill and practice barbecuing your favorite meat or veggies. Grills not only cook your main course but there are tons of options to cook sides like roasted vegetables or maybe even dessert, like a grilled cobbler.

Night Out on the Town

When all else fails try a new restaurant in town. Or drive a little out of the way and try out a popular restaurant in a town or two away. Ask your friends for recommendations and enjoy a delicious meal with no effort except to get yourself there and pay the bill at the end. If you come up short on ideas, use the internet to search for highly rated restaurants in your neighborhood or a nearby neighborhood. Or make it a progressive dinner and try drinks and appetizers at one restaurant, a main course at another restaurant and dessert at a final restaurant.

Family Happy Hour

There is always a random assortment of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, etc. in your refrigerator. Create a new tradition of a family dinner that uses up a bunch of your leftovers. Pull out everything that is left in your fridge and lay it out on a cutting board or tray and make your own fun happy hour. Add some items from your pantry if you need additional items to create a fuller meal. For younger children, put little pieces of each food in an ice cube tray and serve it to them. Enjoy!
