Summer will be here soon enough and my thoughts turn to cellulite. Aaaaaaaaargh! Swimsuits. Shorts. Mini-skirts. And cottage cheese thighs. Definitely not a good combination, though it strikes the best of us, regardless of size or age.
I have seen women who are a size 4 have bad cellulite, so my considerably chunkier thighs are fair game for the cottage cheese syndrome. Consequently, I have battled cellulite with every lotion, potion, cream and treatment available (and even some that are in the experimental stages) but have come to the conclusion that the only salvation lies in exercise, dry brushing, healthy eating AND this potent anti-cellulite drink.
How-to: Potent and simple
Squeeze the juice of one lemon into 8 ounces of water and add up to half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly, drink thrice daily and watch the cellulite melt away.
Why does this anti-cellulite drink work?
Lemons are natural detoxifiers, which rid the body of cellulite-causing toxins and trapped fluids. They are also rich in bioflavonoids and vitamin C, whose anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities help fight off free radicals, prevent the breakdown of collagen (skin’s support structure) and preserve elastin stores (which act like skin’s natural fillers).
And that’s not all: lemons also aid the restoration of the body’s acid-alkali balance, keeping your insides at a steady pH. This means that your body is better able to support healthy bacteria and assist the removal of toxins – which can lead to cellulite – in the body.
Then comes cayenne pepper, which is a potent fat burner thanks to its ability to naturally heat up the body, increasing circulation and metabolism. It also helps with cell turnover, getting rid of weak bad skin cells and replacing them with strong healthy cells. And because it supports the lymphatic system, consuming the spice can help eliminate toxins from the body and reduce the appearance of dimpled skin.
Finally, there is the water, with it’s legendary capacity to flush out stress hormones, detox the body and rebalance estrogen production, all of which have an impact on cellulite. Plus, water retention itself is one of the biggest contributors to cellulite problems. Ironically, drinking more water reduces the amount of water stored under your skin. That’s because when you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day, your body trusts that it will keep receiving a fresh supply, which makes it less likely to “hoard” excess stocks of H2O. So, drink up!
