SAY NO TO DECLAWING

I saw this picture on The Humane Society website and I had to put this on my blog. Mr Jingles my cat was declawed when he was six months old. At the time I only thought about my furniture and didn't really think much about the actual procedure. I'm sure many people don't really think about what it is that they do to the animal. Well the day that I dropped my cute baby off at the vet to get his nails ripped out and to get neutered... I decided to read up on the procedure. My God... if I knew what they did no way in hell would I have put my poor baby through that. I cried and cried and cried and felt terrible. I called a couple times to check up on him and they had already gone through with the surgery.

When I brought my poor baby home he could barely walk. He cried and cried and didn't know what to do. I can remember him in the litterbox trying to sift through the litter and it hurt his poor paws too much. It was such a sin putting him through this and I still to this day regret doing it. Now every time I bring out his cat carrier he runs and hides cause he thinks something bad is going to happen. When it comes time to getting another cat...NEVER AGAIN would I do it.
JUST SAY NO TO DECLAWING... IT IS A SIN... HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR FINGERS BROKEN AND RIPPED OUT?

  3. We couldn't agree more...Zippy is da only cat mom has ever had dat din't haf all it's claws and dat is because of an accident when she was a baby that left her not only missing her claws but a little bit of paw pad too. Our vet is finally phasing out declaw...he'll only do it as laser surjery (costs more but is easier on the cat) and only on kittens under 6 months (they heal faster) and he gives da beans information on it (like exactly what it is) before he'll schedule surjery. He sez he hasn't done one in over a year and doesn't care if he ever does another one.

  4. I'm glad you have seen the light, and like Yao-Lin I'm very happy that it's illegal in the UK. It's the most barbaric, vanity mutilation we can think of. It turns cats into alterable commodoties. It can cause terrible harm to their temperaments and behaviour too.

    Well done for posting this!
    Great stuff!
