Advanced Technologies That Are Curing the World

Minor and major injuries have been a part of mankind's existence since the dawn of time. Thankfully, there have always been individuals who have dedicated their time and energy to find ways to use the available tools to help heal the injured. These people have always had an intense love for the people around them and a desire to see those suffering injuries feel better.

In both ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, plants, honey, and animal fats were an essential part of curing injuries. Many of the practices and techniques that have their start in ancient Egypt migrated into ancient Greece. For thousands of years, the progress in healing wounds and treating injuries was relatively slow. However, in the 19th century, Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis, a Hungarian doctor, realized the importance of washing his hands prior to treating a patient. Sometime later, Joseph Lister realized that if he treated surgical gauze with a sterilizing agent before surgery, the mortality rate among his patients dropped drastically.

In 1886, heat was introduced as a way of sterilizing surgical instruments. From that moment on, the advances in healing have been phenomenal. Doctors and medical professionals want to learn more about safe ways to treat their patients. There are many companies, like Aeslight for example, that are leading the way in creating devices that use lasers to safely and hygienically preform surgeries and other procedures on patients. The result is faster recovery times, minimal scarring, and a drastic reduction in the risk of infection.

It is exciting to witness these current advancements in the world of healing. It is also intriguing to consider what the future of medicine will bring.
