What is a Brazilian wax?
It's a wax that removes all the hair from the pubic region, from the top to the labia, as well as between the butt cheeks.
If you're thinking of getting waxed for the first time, here's some helpful tips:
- Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long, which is about the length of a grain of rice. If it's a forest down there, you can trim it before you go to get waxed, or leave it and they will just trim for you.
- Don't apply creams, lotions or gels to the area being waxed the day of your appointment. You may shower prior to the appointment to help feel fresh, but most places will offer you fresh wipes.
- Don't sunbathe 24 hours before or after your treatment. Tanning before treatment can cause the skin to lift.
- If you have a low tolerance to pain, take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment, to help reduce discomfort.
- Wear comfy undies, you don't want super tight clothing irritating your freshly waxed sweet spot. Most places that you get waxed take modesty seriously, and provide their clients with disposable panties, and require you to only undrape the area they would be working on.
How often should you wax?
Most wax worshipers go every 3-6 weeks. I find that 5 weeks is my magic number! If it's your first time waxing, I would recommend booking your wax 2 or 3 days prior to an event. You don't know how your skin will react to waxing, as most will have a slight irritation. Don't worry, you will still be silky smooth.
Waxing after tips:
- Don't use any products on the waxed area until the next day.
- No swimming pool, hot tubs or sauna for 24 hours after waxing.
- Keep hair follicles clean by showering immediately after exercise.
- Gently exfoliate every 3 days with a mitt and natural body wash.
- If you're prone to bumps or in-grown hair, use an in-grown roll-on treatment such as PFB Vanish or Tend Skin.
