Pumpkin spice lattes are definitely one of the most highly anticipated perks of fall, but the fashion? Eh. Some people really love the color gray, and that's cool and all, but does fall fashion really have to be so boring? Contrary to popular belief, you can rock eye-catching, funky fashion even with the dreary skies and chilly temps. Compete with the changing leaves this season by rocking these four fresh fashion trends.

1. Colorful Makeup

If you're going to rock shades of beige or gray for fall, you can at least spice it up a little with a splash of color using your makeup collection. You can't go wrong with a red lip, some intellectual-chic glasses and a messy updo to complement a casual/preppy look. You can also pop in your Vision Direct color-enhancing contact lenses to let your vibrant eye makeup shine. Orange eye shadow is a big trend this season, while icy blue, cat-eye eyeliner can add a vogue touch to an all black look.

2. Hair Chalk

This gorgeous look is hippie-chic and guaranteed to set you apart this season. Use Free People hair chalk to weave warm hues through a classic fishtail braid, or mix in cool tones with a high bun. Soft chalk pastels can also be found at your local art store for a cheaper way to try out the trend. This versatile style is perfect for embracing the changing colors of fall, while creating a very natural, earthy vibe to your look. Finish out the look with an over-sized knit, bold tights and denim shorts.

3. Leopard Print

It's about time leopard print got the spotlight it deserves. This fierce trend has the perfect balance of sass and class to freshen up your fall wardrobe. A leopard scarf can do wonders for a basic sweater and skinny jeans combo, and you can't go wrong with a pair of leopard booties to add some "oomph" to your favorite LBD. Go for two trends in one with a sheer, button-up leopard print blouse, which adds a healthy dose of sex appeal to an otherwise conservative autumn getup.

4. Dazzling Outerwear

A good coat can last you several winters, so why not splurge on an extra special number that goes beyond the basic trench or peacoat classics? Take some inspiration from Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week, and try out a feathered or fur overcoat for an opulent outer layer. You can also rock a vibrant color like bright red, tantalizing turquoise or sunny yellow to keep your look alive even when you're running from the cold. Make sure to keep the rest of your outfit neutral to avoid any awkward clashes.

5. Hats

Hat season is the best season for girls who know what it's like to wake up with a heinous flurry of hair. Add a cozy-cute finale to your fall look with a puff-ball beanie, or go for a hipster trend with a boho head-wrap. Don't be afraid to mix it up with adorable fedoras and casual baseball hats to keep your head covered this season.
