Whenever possible, opt for natural daylight – it’s unforgiving without being harsh or creating distortions, so you see everything clearly. When this is not possible (for instance during nighttime, which is when most of us actually shovel on our makeup) go for a halogen bulb – this kind of light is very close to natural daylight in its tone.
The ones to completely avoid: fluorescent lighting and incandescent bulbs. The former gives off a green cast that makes skin look washed out and sickly, which can lead you to overdoing the blush and foundation. The latter, on the other hand, creates shadows and doesn’t provide a good level of detail, which can make you miss out certain areas – like an improperly blended jawline. Definitely not a good look!
