THE SECRET TO LOOKING INSTANTLY HOTTER IN A DRESS

The best part of the holiday season: getting all glammed up in gorgeous dresses after spending the past few months cocooned in jeans and jackets. The worst part of the holiday season: getting all glammed up in gorgeous dresses after spending the past few months cocooned in jeans and jackets. As excited as I am about the upcoming parties, there is also sheer dread at having to suddenly show so much skin. Which is why I have teamed up with the best spa specialists to create this 4-step body beauty boosting plan that will have everything smooth, sexy and display-ready in well under an hour!

ANCIENT MAYAN BODY SCRUB

The Mayans might have got it wrong about the end of the world (and thank god, for that!) but they have left behind a phenomenal legacy of beauty recipes crafted from the simplest ingredients.

Ingredients: 8 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoon brown sugar, Juice of 1 lime

Method: Mix all ingredients together and apply to your entire body. Massage gently into the skin for a few minutes with circular motions. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.

MUSTARD BODY WRAP

This potent body wrap smoothes out the thigh area for about 24 hours by reducing water retention and getting the blood circulating. I personally can’t do without it before jumping into a tight skirt or short dress.

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons spicy mustard, 2 tablespoons vodka

Method: Mix the mustard and vodka and massage it into the tops of your legs. Then cover the area with plastic wrap. If you want extra benefits, get under a blanket to heat up your body. After 15 minutes, remove the plastic and wash off the mixture.

HOMEMADE WHIPPED COCONUT BODY BUTTER

I love that this beauty recipe only needs one ingredient – anything else is optional. And a few minutes is all you need to make enough whipped body butter for a couple of months.

Ingredients: 1 cup coconut oil, 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional), few drops of your favourite essential oil (optional)

Method: Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl (don’t melt the coconut oil). Mix on high speed with a wire whisk (or hand blender) for 6-7 minutes or until whipped into a light, airy consistency. Spoon into a glass jar and cover tightly. Store at room temperature.

BODY GLITTER

Talk about bringing a shimmer to the skin!

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons aloe vera gel, 1 teaspoon very fine glitter, 1 drop lavender essential oil (optional)

Method: Add as much glitter to the aloe vera gel as you want – it’s better to start with less and test it out until you reach the desired level. Mix well and lightly rub into your skin. Store any unused portion in a glass container at room temperature.

What’s your party beauty strategy? Do spill!
