Top 5 Reasons I Am Not a Crazy Cat Lady

There are plenty of us out there, you know, the ones who like cats a little more than the general public. We are the constituency who live by the mantra:

Like potato chips, cats can be salty, sweet at times, and most importantly irresistible to our group. We “cat people” want the real deal. We are not satisfied with rabbits, lizards, birds or other small pocket pets. According to us, what is one more cat when you already have two?


“Cat people” or as I like to call them, people who love cats…a lot…are often criticized for their passion. Here are 5 reasons we are NOT the crazy cat ladies they imagine us to be.

1. Cats Don’t Run Agility Trials.

Agility trials are great. They showcase a dogs’ natural ability to weave through poles, jump over sticks and catch a Frisbee at 60 mph. The fact is, many dogs’ enjoy this and it’s a great release for an energetic Corgi. However, cat people see this as the animal version of a toddler beauty pageant. The owners tend to enjoy them more than the dogs. All I’m saying is that you don’t see cat people wearing fleece pullovers with their agility team name embroidered on them.

2. We Don’t Resemble Our Cats

It’s hard to look like a cat. Most cats look the same. Have you ever seen a human and their cat and thought, "Wow, that guy looks like his cat!”



3. Cats are Insanely Popular on Youtube

And for good reason…If we’re so crazy, then the whole world is too. People LOVE cat videos. People love to watch cats talk, dress up and do funny things. The truth is, there’s a little bit of “crazy cat lady” in all of us.

4. Cats Hold Grudges, so be Nice.

Perhaps one of the reasons we love cats so much is out of fear for what they are capable of if we don’t. Have you ever given a cat a bath? Or neglected to feed him his canned tuna for dinner? Hell hath no fury like a cat scorned.

5. Cats Can be Incredibly Loyal Animals

The most important thing to remember is that cats can be just as loyal if not more so than dogs. Cats will grow old with you and they don’t ever pressure you to take them on a walk. If anything they hate those harness and leashes. Trust me, I’ve tried this. Cats are incredibly intelligent, elegant and mysterious animals. I love cats, and I love dogs, but there is no mistaking the unique bond and love that a cat can give you. They truly are a girl’s best friend.
