I've been awake since 3am and I'm not impressed. I'm very pissed at Mr Jingles... he woke me up meowing and then pissed on my bed. What the hell is wrong with my cat? I had just flipped the mattress over a few days back and put fresh sheets on. He had ruined the other side of my mattress from peeing on it before. I tried everything in the past to get rid of the pee smell, and nothing worked. Now he pissed on my bed again! I'm furious with the Butterball Turkey of a cat... he's bad.
His litter box was fine... he had food and water... he shouldn't have done it. Starved for attention? Mad at me because he knows I'm leaving him for a few days during my surgery? Maybe he's not feeling good. No... he's eating and definitely no problem with drinking. Grrr Mr Jingles... you're grounded... no treats for you.
Any suggestions as to what could be going on?
Our cat is two, and started doing that too. He is getting his nuts taken care of on Friday :).If that doesn't help. then he has to go :( I found that using Lysol cleaner on any bedding helps kill the kitty stink, and after cleaning your mattress- sprinkle the spot with baking soda and let it sit as long as you can. I then ended up vaccuuming the stuff up.

My male dog Bandit started doing something similar when I got another male dog. Bandit gets jealous (although he loves Dakota & they even sleep together). Anyway, Bandit occassionally lifts his leg on the corner of my bed! He now wheres a male wrap that covers his..uhm, malehood. My daughters cat lives with us while Em is at school. She gets pissy and will pee on the futon in Emily's room occassionally! I fold that Odor Ban works well. That & bleach then have the mattress in the sun all day.

He might have a urinary tract problem or crystals in his urine, you may need to take him to the vet to rule out any medicals problems....My first steps if he were my cat would be to rule out a medical issue, then if it wasn't a health problem I'd chalk it up to an attitude problem...either stressed or mad...if it's that I'd try that feliway stress spray or something simliar....also is he fixed? If not he may just be saying you're his... LOL not fun but easily fixed with a lil snip snip
ReplyDeleteIf he is spraying, getting him fixed won't stop him. Once they start, it is very hard/near impossible to get them to stop. Like others said it could also be an infection.
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats does this and it's driving me insane. She has done it on nearly every piece of furniture in the house including the pillows on my bed!
I took her to the vet and they said she does not have an infection so I don't know why she does it. She mostly does it in the bathtub now, still gross but at least it rinses away...

Definitely get him checked out by the vet first, though it could be an attitude problem. I had the same problem with a kitten I was fostering, so I feel your pain. The smell came out of my mattress with a combination of mild dish detergent, baking soda, vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide.
