NMEDA National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

NMEDA is short for National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. They are a company that has been around since 1989. They are an Association of mobility Dealers, manufacturers and rehabilitation professionals that helps provide safe vehicles and upgrades to help enhance accessibility for all  types of people. They promote safe driving and equipment for disabled people.

To be honest, I came across this through Socialspark.com  and clicked to write about it... not knowing much about it. After reading for over half an hour on the NMEDA's site, I am quite fascinated by it. I never really thought about this type of thing before, but I'm glad I came across it.

I have been with my boyfriend Vivek now for almost two years, and he's talked about getting his licence. He's always held back since he walks with a bit of a limp... he's very self conscious of it. I don't even like to mention anything of that nature since it would hurt his feelings... but anyway, knowing about NMEDA is good for the future. If and when he wants to drive, we now know of the option if we ever wanted to purchase a vehicle that he'd be able to drive... would help him be able to keep his independence instead of relying on someone else.

They offer special features like: Special steering aids, special acceleration and braking aids, special electronic controls, full size vans, minivans, and pickup trucks... and that's just for the drivers. They also have features for passengers, caregivers, and special stuff like wheelchair lifts. One other thing that I found surprising... is that they're international. You can do a search for a dealer anywhere in the world. I actually did a search and found 3 here in Toronto... it was very easy!
